What this policy covers
This policy explains how QuickLook Pro handles information in the macOS app and its preview and thumbnail extensions, on this website, and when you contact support.
Files stay on your Mac
QuickLook Pro reads the files macOS provides for a preview, including their contents and relevant metadata such as names, sizes, and modification dates. This processing happens on your Mac. The app does not send your files or their contents to the developer or any server.
Previews are read-only. Archive contents are inspected without extracting files to disk. SQLite databases are opened read-only.
No app analytics or tracking
The app does not collect personal information, create accounts, include advertising or analytics SDKs, or track your activity. It does not make network requests or sell or share your file contents with third parties.
Local storage and your choices
App preferences are stored locally. Previewed environment values are not saved as app preferences. Likely secrets in environment files are masked by default; if you choose to reveal them, they appear in the preview.
When you use a copy action, the chosen information is placed on the macOS clipboard. Clipboard access and features such as Universal Clipboard are controlled by macOS and your settings.
macOS manages its own Quick Look caches and system diagnostics. These are separate from QuickLook Pro’s preferences and are governed by your system settings.
You can stop previews by disabling the extensions in System Settings or uninstalling the app. Your original files are not deleted. The developer has no server-side copy of your previewed files to retain or delete.
If you contact support
If you email support, the email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send are used to respond to your request and troubleshoot the issue. Email providers process that correspondence to deliver and store it.
Support correspondence is kept only as long as needed to handle the request and meet applicable legal obligations. You can request deletion of your correspondence by contacting support. Please do not send passwords, API keys, or other secrets.
This website
The interactive demo uses fictional sample files in your browser. It does not access or upload files from your Mac. This website does not add advertising trackers or analytics scripts.
The hosting provider receives technical request information, such as your IP address and browser information, to deliver and secure the website. This is separate from the offline macOS app. If access to the website requires sign-in, the hosting service manages that authentication.
Apple services
Apple handles App Store downloads, purchases, and any diagnostics you choose to share with Apple under its own policies and your account settings. For more information, see Apple’s privacy policy.
Changes to this policy
If the app’s privacy practices change, this page will be updated with a new revision date.
